Lazy Day, and a few reviews - what's new!

NATIONAL LAZY DAY On August 10th, National Lazy Day gives us permission to relax and kickback. So, we’re going to be a bit lazy here. As you can see, there is not much information regarding this annually celebrated holiday as we do not feel like doing any research.

Actually, we do not feel like doing anything at all. Consequently, we are in our hammocks with a couple of good books and glasses of lemonade and iced tea. Yes, it is a Lazy Day. We choose to be lazy rather than tell much more about this day.

"You can’t teach people to be lazy – they either have it, or they don’t." ~ Dagwood Bumstead

HOW TO OBSERVE #NationalLazyDay Take this test to prepare yourself for the day. Lazy people fact #72432143726413424.

If you were too lazy to read that number, you’re ready to celebrate this day.

The number one rule of any lazy day is if you can’t reach it, you don’t need it. Don’t break the rule.

We assigned an alternative word for lazy for the day. We call it very relaxed. What is the official exercise of #NationalLazyDay? Diddly squats. https://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-lazy-day-august-10/

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky concept of the Afterlife

Limbo, by Laura Koerber is an interesting character study. It sensitively portrays dead people who weren't bad enough to go to Hell or were too flawed to enter Heaven. In many ways this Limbo is an Ancient world concept of the Underworld because souls simply stay there doing not much for eternity, There's some wonder on the part of the main character Alyse who died young of cancer and doesn't know (nor do we find out) what barred her from the pearly gates. Some characters play out a more hellish existence like the Filipina bar owner who is at peace until her despised husband shows up when she thought he would certainly go to Hell. The story was well written and emotive. My only problem was that it seemed to be missing a general theme. Where will these souls go? Do they redeem themselves and ascend as stated in some religions or are they reborn as in others. In this story, sadly there seems no escape, only acceptance. It's still a worthwhile and reasonably short book - a very good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A trade gone wild out in the galaxy.

My real rating is about a 4.5 but I went ahead and upgraded based on the fact that the characters were and world was so entertaining. It was a bit of a slow start, but on analysis I realized the fault was mine. I'm not into sports or the dynamics of trades at all. I noticed a humorous "Guardians of the Galaxy" vibe to it, There'sa witty talking urinal named Wizzer who is also a wizard of info as one of the sidekicks and quite a few other moteleys in the crew. Yes there are puns and fun and a quite exciting championship game of Craterball at the end. It's a LONG read but worthwhile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crime solving in "Modern" Ancient Rome

Imagine a world where Ancient Rome with the togas and the terms and Roman Britain still existed but had evolved into the 21st century with wrist phones, technology and other developments appreciated in the modern world. This is the world of Dai and Julia, two detectives who solve all sorts of crimes such as murder, kidnapping, sheep-stealing and more. And Julia has just given birth to a little girl, so the parenthood issues come in too! There are five delightful stories and crimes to solve. My favorite was Dying to be Fathers in which a kidnapping was the crime. At first I needed to warm up to the characters a bit, but once I did I loved the story and will purchase more collections. You will too!
